Sustainability

Listening to the world around us and working towards a more sustainable future…

Little Gusto is part of AYSU TEXTILE, bringing together years of textile manufacturing experience with a considered approach to sustainability. From design and production to material selection and packaging, we shape our processes with the aim of reducing our environmental impact, using resources more consciously and creating products designed to last.

The first step in integrating sustainability into our everyday practices is the way we choose our materials and approach production. We carefully select responsible fibres, accessories and materials, while continuing our research and development to explore more environmentally conscious alternatives.

For us, sustainability is not a single initiative. It is a holistic approach that encompasses materials, design, production, packaging, employee rights and our everyday working practices.

Fabric and Accessory Selection

We place great importance on fabric sourcing, the first stage of our production process, and prioritise certified fabrics produced with environmental considerations in mind.

Our collections include materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester. We apply the same approach to our accessories, prioritising natural and more environmentally conscious alternatives across components including buttons and materials containing leather.

We consider not only the appearance of a material, but also its durability, lifespan and environmental impact.

Design

Our design team develops each collection with Little Gusto’s commitment to sustainable and ethical consumption in mind.

Beyond fast-changing trends, we focus on timeless designs that can be worn for longer and passed on from one generation to the next. By combining thoughtful, functional design with our approach to quality manufacturing, we aim to create products with a long usable life.

The idea that a Little Gusto piece may continue to be enjoyed by future generations is an important part of our sustainability philosophy.

Production

Little Gusto products are manufactured using AYSU TEXTILE’s production infrastructure and textile expertise.

Across our production facilities, we use sensor-controlled lighting and water systems, energy-efficient technologies and efficient climate-control systems as part of our efforts to reduce resource consumption.

We plan production quantities in line with demand and sales volumes, helping us minimise unnecessary and excess production.

Where possible, surplus fabric, yarn and accessories from production are repurposed. Materials that cannot be reused directly are directed towards recycling processes.

Packaging

We believe the sustainability journey of our garments should continue beyond production, and we remain mindful of the environmental impact of packaging.

Our products are packaged using options designed to continue their journey with you, including reusable cotton bags, pouches and kraft packaging made from recycled materials.

To help reduce emissions associated with logistics, we also aim to consolidate shipments rather than dispatching them individually wherever possible.

Employee Rights and Employment

We believe sustainability extends beyond environmental practices. Working conditions, equality, safety and ethical production principles are also fundamental to a responsible business model.

Across our supply chain, we place importance on employee rights including working hours, fair remuneration, freedom of association, health and safety. Our production processes follow a working approach that takes BSCI standards into consideration.

We actively support women’s participation in the workplace. Approximately 96% of our team is made up of women, which is an important part of our approach to social sustainability.

We also support the development of our employees through training provided at selected intervals.

Transport and Carbon Footprint

We also consider transport to be an important part of reducing the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations.

Employee transport is organised through shared services, helping to reduce the additional traffic and carbon emissions associated with individual car journeys.

We also use electric vehicles within our company operations and, where possible, prioritise transport alternatives that reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Employee Awareness

We believe sustainability is not limited to the production floor; it is also closely connected to our everyday habits and working culture.

Where possible, surplus food from our workplace is repurposed, with suitable food set aside for animals and organic waste composted.

We work to minimise plastic use in our dining areas and separate the plastic materials we do use for recycling. Recycling bins are available throughout our offices, and we aim to manage the use of paper, packaging, labels, stationery and other consumable materials more consciously.

Where possible, our purchasing decisions prioritise businesses with an ethical approach to production and products made from recycled, recyclable or biodegradable materials.

Sustainable Energy and Carbon Footprint Reduction Project

At Little Gusto, we shape our production processes with an environmentally conscious and responsible approach. As part of this commitment, the solar panels installed at AYSU TEXTILE’s production facility help us meet our energy needs through renewable sources while supporting our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.

The clean, renewable energy generated from sunlight supports a significant part of our production line, helping us reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and minimise our environmental impact.

Our Sustainable Energy and Carbon Footprint Reduction Project is an important step towards our goal of leaving a cleaner world for future generations. By bringing the energy of nature into our production processes, we are helping to protect the world in which little Gustos will grow.
